Everybody loves the feeling of being near higher, transcendent realities. This is one of the primary reasons why people love music, movies, and sports, among many other things that give us a sense of rising above the ordinary daily grind. But God created us with this desire for transcendence so that we might find satisfaction for it in him. Christmas is a reminder that eternally transcendent truth, power, and hope are available through Christ.
Luke 2:19-20 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
C.S. Lewis: “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
