RMLBC is a congregational church, meaning the congregation (under the headship of Christ) makes major church decisions together as a group. Each member, therefore, is significant in helping provide overall direction for the body.
Additionally, the congregation has approved the calling of various leaders to help guide the church and meet its needs. Our leadership function as servants of the church, taking their cue from Christ who willingly washed his disciples’ feet: John 13:14, “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”
Jason Dollar, Pastor
Jason serves the body of Christ at RMLBC as Pastor. He is married to his sweetheart Page, and they have five children (Noah, Anna, Mary, Isaac, and Eden). Life around the Dollar home is always exciting! Page documents much of this excitement on her blog, Dollar General. Jason has been pastor since July 2009. His interests include apologetics, reading, writing, music, and Braves baseball. He is a graduate of Southeastern Bible College and Birmingham Theological Seminary. Jason blogs at Glory Focus.
Dr. Craig Lawrence, Elder
Believing that a plurality of elders is faithful to the biblical model, RMLBC is honored to have Dr. Craig Lawrence serving as a non-vocational Elder at RMLBC. During the week, he serves as Director of Financial Services-Auxiliaries of Lawson State Community College in the Birmingham area. Craig is married to Pam, and they live in Hueytown, AL.
Chris Sanford, Youth Director
Chris is no stranger to the McCalla area and has a strong passion to reach Middle and High School students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He began his duties as youth director October 2015. With the help of his wife Cait, Chris strives to bring truth to students while also providing wonderful opportunities for fellowship and fun. If you have questions about the RMLBC youth group, you can contact Chris on his Facebook page.
Erin Colvin, Children’s Director
Erin has been a member of RMLBC for many years, but the Lord has called her to work on the staff as Children’s Director. In this role Erin wears many hats including recruiting and organizing volunteers, training and encouraging teachers, planning children’s ministry events, and many others. As a certified teacher who has experience in the public school and as a believer who understands the importance of teaching children the clear biblical gospel, Erin is uniquely gifted for this role. Erin is married to Tyler, and they have three sons, Levi, Jay, and Finn.
Sherry Lewis, Worship Leader
Sherry leads our congregational singing on Sunday mornings and directs our praise band and choir. She loves to involve other people as much as possible in the work of worship ministry. Her main goal is to bring glory to God by leading believers to his throne through music. Sherry is married to Tim, who is one of our deacons, and they especially love camping with their family.
The biblical office of deacon is fulfilled at RMLBC by faithful ordained men of God committed to serving the Lord and our congregation. They are constant helpers, providing humble leadership and service to the flock.
