BBQ and PING PONG

On Friday, June 19, over half of our church family gathered for a night of pure fun. We ate top-notch food, including savory BBQ and other meats and an ice cream bar, and we brought some friendly competition around the ping pong tables.

Congratulations to Tyler Colvin for his big win in the ping pong tournament. He had some pretty serious competition, especially from one of his own boys, but he managed to secure the victory with his cat-like reflexes and unstoppable spin shots.

The best part of the night was the fellowship among believers. I, for one, believe this kind of event is so good for a church family. We know that our corporate worship is our primary goal. We also know that we have a global and local gospel mission to accomplish, and this is our calling. But we also know that genuine fellowship and friendship are critical to our well-being as God's people. Oh, how we need time just to feel connected, and this night gave us that opportunity.
We have another chance to do the same at the Barons game this Saturday night. I'm sure many memories will be made there as well.
We also have an opportunity to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, our nation's official birthday, on Sunday, July 5, after our morning worship service. We are hosting a BBQ lunch that will include patriotic songs and themes. Though we never desire to make an idol out of our nation, or any nation, we do want to express our thankfulness to the Lord for the grand old USA. Even with all its flaws, we are so blessed to be Americans. I hope you're planning to attend.

This lunch will also function as a fundraiser for our upcoming mission trip to Arequipa, Peru. And that is fitting. We will take some of what God has blessed us with in the USA and share it with our friends down south.
Rock Mountain Lakes Baptist Church, let's keep moving forward. Thank you to all who make these events possible and to all who attend them. You desire to create a church home where people know they belong and find joy in the Lord together, as a family of faith. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Body of Christ in this place.
