Peru Mission 2026

Another journey to southern Peru (the beautiful city of Arequipa) is in the books for RMLBC. I (Pastor Jason) never cease to be amazed at how our great God uses our small church to make a gospel-centered difference in a place so far removed from our central Alabama home.

By His grace, we were able to touch the lives of many children, some of them orphans, some disabled, some living in extreme poverty. Our team proclaimed the gospel (Mark 13:10), supported sister churches who are active in ministry (2 Cor. 8:13–14), and fed the hungry (James 2:15–16).

This year, we visited:

1. A home for children with disabilities (Casa Hogar Aldea Sagrada Familia)

2. A home for orphan girls (Casa el Amor de Dios, Jose and Gloria)

3. A home for orphan boys (Also operated by Jose and Gloria)

4. A Christian school that reaches children in need with the gospel and solid education (Pastor Claudio Azevedo and his wife Andrea operate this school)

5. Calvary Chapel El Mirador: We held a gospel outreach even to the children who live in the El Mirador community, and our ladies held a banana pudding and testimony event for the ladies of this church

6. Calvary Chapel Arequipa (Pastor Efrain's church): I preached here Sunday morning.

7. We also visited and supported five different families in their homes all over Arequipa. Each of these families had a child with a severe disability.

Throughout our journey, God allowed our team to meet so many people, pray with them, support them with the financial gifts raised for this purpose, and let them know that salvation through Christ is a reality. And since this was our church's 12th trip to Peru (beginning in November 2010), we saw many of our old friends that we've made through the years.

On our "fun day," we also visited a lovely gem of a place called Catarata de Pillones, a waterfalls about a three hour drive outside the city. It was a time of reflection and fellowship.

It really is difficult to put into words what a trip like this feels like. I suppose it feels like the book of Acts come to life in our day. It is not only taking the gospel to the ends of the earth, but it is connecting with people who live there in a way that only God can do.

Thanks be to God who gets all the glory! And thank you, the people of RMLBC, for sending this team and making our gospel dreams a reality.

Our skit this year was the story of Abigail, which we "performed" several times for several groups of children. This is how we shared the gospel with them. Our own Sandra Muir developed the skit for us!

There are so many more photos, but we want to be very careful to respect the people, especially the children, we ministered to, so we don't want to show their faces online. This Sunday at church, however, we will show some of those photos. We will not livestream so that we can report to our church family about the trip more openly.

(I realize there are a few children's faces in the photos above, but these kids are from Claudio's school, not one of the orphanages. I just wanted you to see a few of the smiles we saw all week!)

I can go ahead and report that this team did a phenomenal job this year representing Christ and our church family. They worked extremely hard for four straight days sharing the love of God.
