This beautiful passage marks the joyful culmination of Ruth and Boaz’s story. It highlights not only the birth of a child but the birth of a legacy that would ultimately lead to the Messiah himself. The message invites listeners to consider the glories of biblical womanhood, the strength and humility of Ruth, and the divine wonder of motherhood as a means through which God advances His redemptive purposes in the world.

The sermon emphasizes that Ruth’s journey (from loss and foreignness to belonging and blessing) mirrors the gospel story in profound ways. Boaz, as the kinsman-redeemer, foreshadows Christ, the greater Redeemer who takes in the outcast, provides for the needy, and brings new life where there was once only sorrow. In the birth of Obed, the congregation was reminded that God's plans often come to fruition through quiet faithfulness, courageous obedience, and the overlooked paths of ordinary life. Women—so often the hidden heroes of the biblical narrative—are shown here not only as nurturers of children but as vital vessels of covenant promise.

This Mother’s Day message offered encouragement not just to moms, but to all who wonder whether their small acts of love and faithfulness matter. Ruth’s story assures us that God sees, honors, and weaves every act into His larger tapestry of grace. Through Ruth, Naomi, and ultimately Mary—the mother of Jesus—God’s story marches on, fulfilling every promise.
